The Nordic Genetic Resource Centre carried out the second training course of the GENBIS database in Alnarp from 26-28 April. The participants from Estonia were Reijo Simson (Polli Horticultural Research Centre) and Vahur Kukk (METK Genebank). The training was coordinated by Jan Svensson and conducted by Kjell Ake Lindbald, Pawel Chrominski, Maohammad El-Khaleif, Johan Axelsson and Kit Lundberg.
The main objective was to acquire the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) of the GENBIS database. The participants were introduced to the online ordering of seeds and the filling of orders in the GrinGlobal database. Practical work involved transferring large amounts of data from a spreadsheet program to the GENBIS database.
Pawel Chrominski presented the conservation of genetic resources as marine seed plants.
The project was funded by the Nordic e-Infrastructure Cooperation (NeIC) programme to facilitate the development and use of state-of-the-art e-Infrastructure solutions in areas of common interest to the Nordic countries.
