The Centre for Estonian Rural Research and Knowledge recently had the pleasure of hosting members of the agricultural non-profit organisation “Organic Armenia”.
During the visit, Vahur Kukk gave an overview of the projects in the field of organic farming and presented vegetable seed growing fields and organic field trials.
In the greenhouse, Andro Otsus presented its use, research, experiments and various research projects.
The visitors were particularly interested in the drought-proofing test area – both its objectives and its practical implementation.
During the laboratory visit, the main activities of biotechnology and plant protection were presented and an overview of the agricultural crops stored in the gene bank was given. Opportunities for cooperation in the fields of organic farming and the collection and conservation of plant genetic resources were also discussed.
The Centre of Estonian Rural Reseach and Knowledge also cooperates with the Armenian Genebank and both participate in the European Cooperation Programme on Plant Genetic Resources (ECPGR).
The guests were accompanied by Margit Säre, member of the Board of the Peipsi Cooperation Centre and project manager for cross-border and development cooperation.
