In the framework of the “Smart Village” project, teachers and students of Orissaare Gymnasium got acquainted with the Genebank of The Centre of Estonian Rural Research and Knowlege.
Külli Annamaa, Head of the Genebank, gave an overview of the conservation of genetic resources of agricultural crops in Estonia, the main objectives of the Genebank and its activities. The students also participated in the preparation of the next shipment of seeds from the Genebank to the Svalbard Seed Vault.
Jaan Kabin, the director of Koeru Secondary School, helped organise the trip.
