ETKI genebank conducts ECPGR field trials.

The Institute’s gene bank participates in the conduct of the international experiment EVA organized by the ECPGR network in 2021-2023.

Winter and summer wheat and summer barley tests are carried out in Jõgeva.

Summer wheat has a total of 315 varieties or breeds in two experiments, winter wheat has 342 and barley has 339 varieties or breeds.

The time of establishment, the length of the plants and, in the case of wintering, the wintering period were assessed. Particular attention was paid to the assessment of plant diseases. The presence of 11 diseases was assessed in barley, 8 in winter wheat and 7 in winter wheat.

The experiments will be coordinated by the head of the gene bank, Külli Annamaa. The seeds were prepared for sowing and the agronomists and experimental technicians from the wheat and barley breeding groups participated in the sowing.
